Orientation Programming Overview
To support your strong connection to programming and community, the LC team has designed a robust orientation program for students and their families. The major components of our Orientation program include:
- New Student Orientation Course in Canvas: This self-guided, asynchronous orientation course for all students will be available starting January 5.
- Pre-Arrival Virtual Sessions: In January, we will be hosting several online sessions to help you prepare for your arrival to campus.
- On-Campus Orientation Program: This section provides an overview of the orientation programming for on-campus students.
- Family Orientation: We recognize families play an integral part in supporting their students in having a successful experience. To support your journey, we have also designed a series of programs, which include the prearrival sessions outlined below as well as dedicated sessions during the on-campus portion of our orientation program
- Spring semester Important Dates
New Student Orientation Course in Canvas
The New Student Orientation course in Canvas (our Learning Management System) will be available to all new students (online and on-campus) on Tuesday, January 9. You will receive a notification in your Landmark e-mail inbox, and you can access the course at this link: http://landmark.instructure.com/courses/6593
This course consists of self-guided, independent modules to help you gain important skills and knowledge. Topics include:
- Words of welcome from Landmark staff
- Technology Guide for Students: tutorials in the software and systems you'll use regularly as a Landmark student
- Neurodiversity at Landmark: a collection of videos and web resources celebrating and championing neurodiversity
- Safety and Well-being: This section covers some essential topics for college students: mental well-being, sexual respect, and alcohol education.
Pre-Arrival Virtual Sessions
- Housing, Dining, and Campus Safety (Open to Students and Families) Join members of the Residential Life, Dining Services, and Campus Safety teams as they present an overview of your home on campus. Ask questions, gather invaluable insights, and gain a deeper understanding of how our outstanding housing, dining, and campus safety services will enhance your college adventure. - Transitioning Your Medical & Mental Health Care to Landmark (Open to Students and Families) Join Jeff Huyett, Director of Health Services, and Tori Tilson, Director of Counseling Services, as they provide an important overview of medical and mental health services available at LC and important steps to take in advance of your arrival. The presenters will review the content available in this helpful resource available here.
- Orientation & Arrival to Campus (Open to Students and Families) Join LC staff for an overview of the New Student / Family Orientation on-campus programs, review of arrival to campus logistics, and have a dedicated space to have your remaining questions addressed before your travels to Vermont.
